I can haz RSS!

One should write sensible post summaries for the RSS people

For some months I’ve been thinking about supporting RSS for the blog. Mostly I think such thoughts while I’m out somewhere with the dog and we are having a rest in the shade. Then when I get home I have to clean the mud / sand / grass off everyone and everything and I forget that idea.

Inevitably most of that water will end up on me

This weekend just gone I had a few minutes while waiting for my lunch to reheat, and I had the brainwave that Astro might have some sort of RSS support. So I googled it, and it did. It seemed really easy so I copied and pasted it, and next minute I had an RSS feed. I added a few more bells and whistles before the oven dinged with my lunch ready. Yes it was that easy.

Today I added a little button onto the blog header so that people could find out that there was such a feed. Then I realised I had no way of knowing whether that little button would do anything, and that I should use an RSS reader to check it.

I haven’t used an RSS reader since Google killed theirs, but it turns out they are still a thing. And this is what they look like:

So it has taken about as long to get RSS going nicely as it has to write this blog post. Maybe one day someone will even read my posts!
